ATT “No Text On Board” Twitter Party #itcanwaitchat

Would you close your eyes for 6 seconds as you’re driving down the highway at 60mph?  That’s the question posed in AT&T’s new video that is a part of their “It Can Wait campaign.” While almost everyone would agree that they wouldn’t close their eyes, they think nothing of looking down at their phone for 6 seconds to send or read a text.

I’m proud to be working with AT&T to promote their “No Text On Board Pledge Day” to get as many people to go online and take the pledge that they won’t text and drive by September 19th.  Join us that day (and tell your friends) at 2PM ET for a Twitter Party to discuss some strategies to help get your kids…and you…to stop texting and driving.  We’ll also chat with some people whose lives have been forever changed by texting and driving.  And we’ll talk about an incredible program that AT&T is offering to schools and communities around the country a Texting While Driving Simulator.

AT&T has also developed a Drive Mode app which can help reduce the urge to answer texts while driving.  During the Twitter Party we’ll be giving away 3 Samsung Exhilarates with easy instructions to down loaded the app!

This is, without a doubt, one of the most important Twitter parties to join and spread the word about. 100,000 crashes per year involve people that were texting.  Throughout the party let’s get the word out about taking the pledge and committing to someone you love that you won’t text and drive!

Think about the last text you sent – was it worth your life?

Follow #ItCanWaitChat and help get everyone you know to Take The Pledge.

  7. Thanks for highlighting the “It Can Wait” campaign. As the mother of a teenage son I know that my repeated pleas for safe driving sometimes fall on deaf ears. I happened to be watching TV with my son recently when one of the commercials came on. I wrote a blog about it on http://destinationsafety.com/. Even though the Twitter Party has passed, this is a message that can’t be repeated too often.
