Win a Samsung Galaxy S III Courtesy of AT&T

Commit to No Texting and Driving

Here’s a contest that not only gives you the chance to win a great prize – a Samsung Galaxy S III – but could also save your life.  For anyone that hasn’t had a chance to check out the Samsung Galaxy III, it’s an incredible phone! I was sent one courtesy of AT&T for being part of their It Can Wait campaign this summer and, I must say, both my husband and I were blown away (I’m adding him in here because he’s the tech geek in the family and isn’t easily impressed.) The screen is, by far, the largest and clearest we’ve ever seen.  The speaker phone is extremely clear on both ends and it’s so light and sleek you forget it’s in your hand.  And, as my husband said, “the smart anticipation typing aid is phenomenal.  It’s a mind reader.”

But here’s why this contest can save your life, or someone you love.  As I said, I was involved in AT&T’s It Can Wait campaign this summer.  The program was developed to bring attention to the real facts of texting and driving – over 100,000 crashes per year involve someone who was texting and driving.  In my community alone there have been five high profile tragic deaths due to texting and driving in the past several months.  AT&T has created a site where people can take a pledge not to text and drive, download resources for schools, communities and businesses to help get the word out not to text and drive and watch videos of American Idol contestants, celebrities, athletes and other people who have taken the pledge.  In fact, the most recent video, “Through the Eyes of the Phone”, shows a texting and driving accident through the eyes of the phone.   There’s also a link to the AT&T Drive Mode app that can be used on Androids and Blackberrys.   Once the app is installed, when the person is driving and going above 25 mph, the phone will be disabled with the exception of one music app and one navigation app.  The person sending the text or call will receive an “auto reply message” letting them know you will get back to them when you’re not driving.

So here’s how you can win the Samsung S Galaxy III – simply like Accessible Home Living on Facebook between today and February 28th and then go to the AT&T It Can Wait site and take the pledge not to text and drive and we’ll randomly select one winner on March 1st. Pretty simple isn’t it?

  4. I keep a cell phone in my vehicle for EMERGENCIES only. I was the victim of an accident because of an inattentive driver. I had to have my neck fused and I will have to endure pain for the rest of my life. Pathetic chain of events. Severely diminished and compromised my quality of life…FOREVER.
