As a mom, we’ve all been there.  Your baby wakes up in the middle of the night with a fever or coughing and you’re not sure what to do.  You don’t necessarily want to call the pediatrician because you think you’re being an over reactive mom.  So you start Googling what might be the problem.

As we all know, the internet can be a great source of information or provide completely inaccurate information.  Fortunately, there’s a new online service, LiveHealth Online that allows you to talk to a Board Certified doctor at any hour of the day.  The site also provides a ton of great information and resources with articles about some of the hot topics for mom including how to deal with super lice, hand foot & mouth disease and measles.  There’s also a great area called “Fact or Fiction” which I love.

But the most important aspect to this site is access to a doctor 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  It’s not just a chat board – you’re actually having a “video visit” on your computer with a doctor in your area.  All you need is high-speed Internet access, a webcam or built-in camera with audio capability.  There’s also an online app that you can download to your SmartPhone.

Best of all, it’s easy to do – you just sign up, go to the “See a Doctor Now” page, find one in your area that has a green light next to their name, click it to “Connect” and then start a session.

So no more sitting in a pediatrician’s waiting room trying to keep your sick child comforted and your other child occupied.  Having a sick baby is stressful enough but getting them dressed and dealing with a waiting room makes it even worse.  LiveHealth Online makes it a little bit easier.
